Day 583 (07/29/08) Choke Break!

Day 583 (07/29/08)

This morning we discussed an email from a woman that walked into a co-worker having some "alone" time while at work watching internet porn.  He doesn't know she saw him.  Wow.  The funny thing is that the same thing happened to Double R a few years ago when he worked overnights--he walked in on a co-worker doing the same thing.  She didn't want to rat him out, but wanted him to stop doing that & didn't know what to do.  The best bet for her would be to make an anonymous email address & email him saying that she saw him doing it & he needs to stop.  This led to BJ saying that people should eb able to take time out of their day at work to take care of business...which worries me since I share an office with BJ.  Remind me to never use his computer!  One thing is that would probably eliminate a lot of sexual harassment since the guy wouldn't be full of pent up sexual frustration at work...as he could have a closed door meeting with himself!  BJ said he would rather a person take 15 minutes for that as opposed to taking 15 minutes to smoke...since they come back stinking of cigarette.  I came up with a great term for this kind of break...instead of a "Smoke Break," it could be called a "Choke break."  Surprisingly we got a few calls from female listeners that say they take "Choke Breaks" at their workplace.  Now that is HOT!

Big thanks to Kevin Calabro for calling in this morning.  Kevin is the former voice of the Sonics, and now the voice of the new soccer team in town...The Seattle Sounders F.C.  We learned that Kevin doesn't know a ton about soccer, but he has 9 months to study up & learn all the finer details.  I suggested that he make it a family affair & have his kids be the color commentators for the games since they play soccer!

This morning we talked about our favorite video games of all times, since there was a list put out on the top 10 video games ever...we disagreed with a lot of the choices on the list, but it was fun to chat with people that called in with their suggestions.  Here is that list:

THE GREATEST VIDEO GAMES OF ALL TIME

Comic-Con and the E3 show are over . . . which means the video game fans can spend time & debate this list of the greatest video games ever, according to Onepoll.com.  Here are the top 10:

#10.)  "Grand Theft Auto - Vice City"

#9.)  "Mario Kart 64"

#8.)  "Donkey Kong"

#7.)  "Grand Theft Auto - San Andreas"

#6.)  "Space Invaders"

#5.)  "Sonic The Hedgehog"

#4.)  "The Sims"

#3.)  "Tetris"

#2.)  "Pac-Man"

#1.)  "Super Mario Brothers"  (--which came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System back in 1985 and has since sold more than 40 MILLION copies.)

This ties in great with a hilarious story we read this morning in Yahoo news:

Feminists cry foul over Fat Princess

She's plump, powerful and ready to cause more controversy than "SuperSize Me."

She's Fat Princess, the star of Sony's upcoming video game of the same name. Debuting at last week's E3 expo, the colorful Fat Princess is a capture-the-flag game with a twist: you can thwart capture attempts by locking the once-thin princess in a dungeon and stuffing her full of cake, thereby increasing her girth and making her harder for your enemies to haul back to home base.

According to popular gaming blog Joystiq, two feminist gaming sites have already voiced their displeasure with the weighty issue.

Feminist Gamer's "Mighty Ponygirl" rings in diplomatically, suggesting a new way to play the game altogether.

"Instead of running out into the forest to find cake to fatten up the princess with, why not go out and find gold (which is a lot heavier than cake) to stuff into a treasure chest. The more gold in the chest, the heavier it would be, and the harder it would be to carry," she said, before adding, "Oh, but that's not as "cute" as cake and fat chicks. Right."

Over at Shakesville, however, writer Melissa McEwan cuts to the chase, telling Sony she's "positively thrilled to see such unyielding dedication to creating a new generation of fat-hating, heteronormative ---holes."

Sony has yet to issue an official response, although Joystiq did receive a particularly informative update from James Green, Fat Princess' lead art director, who clued gamers in on the origins of the game:

"Does it make it better or worse that the concept artist (who designed the look, characters, everything) is a girl?"

Hmmm...hope the game's detractors don't mind eating a bit of crow.

Check out a screen shot of "Fat princess"--hilarious if you ask me!
